BYO BIKE VS BUYING OVER THERE

So, you want to ride some of the great roads in other countries but baulk at shipping your local pride and joy. I could finance another trip with a dollar for every time I’ve been asked “What’s best? BYO bike or buying over there?” In truth, there is no right or wrong.

Taking your own bike has advantages, of course. It’s yours. You know it. You know its history. I could go on. The disadvantage naturally are the cost of getting your bike over to wherever. The other option is buying a bike when you get there. Sometimes that’s okay, but in some countries they make it hard to nigh-on impossible. Maybe I can point out a few tricks to help out.
