Last year, Tucano Urbano re-imagined one of the most iconic items of clothing for scooter lovers, the Parka jacket – and over the past 12 months I’ve been putting the Italian brand’s Green Park jacket through its paces.
During the height of the Mod culture, the Fishtail Parka became iconic, due to its wide availability in pretty much any military store, its low price and its practicality. In short, it was the ideal garment to ride on scooters. Its main characteristics have remained unchanged over the years: its knee length, its large pockets, its removable liner and a hood with detachable faux fur trimming to combat the cold weather.
And TU’s new Green Park jacket looks the business as far as I’m concerned – close enough to a traditional parka to appease the hard-core scooter crowd, but with a handful of clever features to help it stand out as a thoroughly modern bit of kit.
