British India Line heads Nigel Dobbing memorial train

IN one of the most unusual main line steam workings of the year, SR Merchant Navy Pacific No. 35018 British India Line travelled from its base at Carnforth to haul a private charter train from King’s Lynn on Sunday, March 17.

The train was arranged as a tribute to Nigel Dobbing, managing director of the Railway Touring Company, who died last October.

Nigel established the company in King’s Lynn
