Assembly begins

There’s an old adage in my trade as a joiner, one probably applicable to other manual trades too, which goes ‘measure twice, cut once’ and doesn’t really need to be explained. Like most people though, I’ve not always followed such sayings and regret not doing so when things go wrong. Coming out with ‘well, I thought it would be okay’, after the event, really doesn’t do any good. Luckily, however, in the case of this rebuild, the only serious problem was having to clean the ball bearings and regrease them when the problem was solved.
