Whitaker clashes with Democrats in House hearing, says he has not spoken to Trump about Mueller probe

WASHINGTON - Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker told Congress Friday that he has not interfered with the special counsel's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election and has not discussed the probe with President Donald Trump or other senior White House officials.

The testimony came early in a contentious House Judiciary Committee hearing led by Democrats, who sought to press the nation's top law enforcement official about special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's inquiry.
