Four-car ‘Aventra’ for Goblin
THE continued delays in the acceptance of the Class 710 ‘Aventra’ fleet has resulted in No. 378232 being reduced to a four-car formation for potential interim use on the Gospel Oak to Barking line once more Class 172s are released for transfer to Tyseley (two having already been stopped).
The ‘Capitalstar’, which has been made available by temporarily pausing the overhaul/refurbishment programme, had motor open standard (MOSB) No. 38432 removed at Willesden in mid-December, and on December 24 this was collected by No. 37611 Pegasus and moved as the 5Q55/10.00 Willesden-Silwood Stabling Sidings (near New Cross Gate).
The four-car unit was created to enable testing on DC lines and it ran to Redhill on December 28 and 29. Testing, including that of platform interfaces, on the line between Gospel Oak and Barking was due to
