The idea of circumnavigating a major UK city seems OK when suggested over a couple of beers with your pals, but in reality, most round-city rides take you through awful suburban towns and miles of industrial estates. But this one avoids virtually all the conurbations and has little contact with busy A roads and junctions.

The ride includes several cafes, good landmarks and places of esoteric interest, but more importantly is a jolly good ride, which will deliver you back whence you came – and if the rain sets in, you're never far from a major road to take you home, lickety-split.
