In praise of Pip #1

I’m just writing to say how much I enjoy the regular Pip Higham column which often contains nuggets of local geography around the Village Bike Shop which was Pip’s hideaway for many years.

The prose is witty and written in a style familiar to those of us who, as apprentices, commuted on our bikes and sat in front of wily lecturers on day-release courses at the various technical colleges that infested the North West. The snippets of geography in the column’s bike related ripping yarns probably doesn’t mean much to some of readers, but it brings back vivid memories for those of us who lived locally
