What made you decide to take on an allotment rather than to grow veg in your garden?

At the time it was simply space. I lived with my parents and they didn’t have enough room, and even when I bought my own house, the garden wasn’t big enough – although since getting my allotment I now see other benefits of having it separate from my garden. The community spirit down at the allotment site is lovely to be a part of. Plus, when I go to my lottie, I am away from distractions and find it a tranquil space.
