Expats join tragedy loco and A4 in Stoneleigh selection

TWO expat Southern Railway nameplates, another from a tragic LMS 4-6-0 that was involved in the country’s worst-ever peacetime rail disaster, and a fourth from a Gresley LNER A4 Pacific, will be at the core of Great Central Railwayana’s auction on December 1.

The SR plates are from Merchant Navy Pacific No. 35004 and from West Country No. 34042, the LMS example from Jubilee class No. 45637 that was one of four locomotives involved in a horrifying rail crash at Harrow and Wealdstone station in 1952, and the LNER from No. 60003.
