Pearls of Pleasure

The Blue Mountains is a great place for plein air painting. Another method is to draw up a working sketch on the spot, with the actual painting being done in the comfort of the studio. Lloyd Rees used to sit and look at a scene for hours, then jump up and head for the studio, where he would paint from memory. Photographs, too, can be used in the process of creating a painting.
