ON the last weekend of January I had the great privilege of attending the longest running indoor car show in the world: the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California which incorporates the long-running AMBR trophy. (America’s Most Beautiful Roadster) I’m not sure of the total count of cars on show but it would’ve been up around the 1,000 mark. There were eight separate buildings each holding around 100 cars, plus outdoor and vendor displays. It was massive and to the uninitiated, a jaw-dropping experience. This is old hat to our American hot rod cousins who take it all in their stride and accept it as normal. A few things stuck out to me this year and are worthy of mention. Firstly the car count: there were 15 contenders for the AMBR trophy
