FB: What is an exhaust?

DP: Basically, it’s a set of pipework designed to disperse combustion gas and heat away from the rider, while suppressing noise and helping the engine to perform with greater efficiency.

FB: How does it work?

DP: All combustion engines produce exhaust gases, which are collected from the cylinder head in the engine by an exhaust manifold. The exhaust manifold then acts as a funnel, diverting exhaust gases from all cylinders of the engine then releases them through a single opening – often referred to as the front pipe/ downpipe or header pipe... then through the silencer where most of the sound dampening occurs.
