A brief chat with... REX CAUNT
Despite not having any formal engineering training, Rex has always been surrounded by people with loads of knowledge and he learned to listen and ask pertinent questions. “That’s how you find things out,” he says, as he tells me how he started in this industry. “I’ve always been mechanically minded and in retrospect my parents were quite supportive of motorcycling, so there were no raised eyebrows when I hauled an old BSA engine home from a scrapyard and started to pull it to bits. At that time I was riding a Ducati Cucciolo engined bicycle to and from school, but now I had an engine I could work on; it didn’t matter it had a big hole in the crankcase.”
