ISLE OF WIGHT INTERNATIONAL SCOOTER RALLY 2018

The Isle of Wight has a special place in my heart. It was my first rally as a reckless and inquisitive 16-year-old, admittedly via a beaten up old Vauxhall Viva. Parental permission was granted only because the driver was my older brother. With vague assurances to our parents that he would look after me, I was (eagerly) led into the unknown – what a wonderful world awaited. Although my 50 Special had been left at home that year, Ipromised myself I would always ride to future rallies… I was smitten!!

Ferry good time

Leaving home on Friday my PX200E loaded with tent, bags and bungees had a hissy fit, bellowing a very loud screaming engine (which turned out later to be a mild throttle issue). However, keen to meet a good friend and catch the Southampton ferry on time, the bags were unpacked and reloaded onto a spare Mk1 Vespa (hurrah). Riding 97 miles
