PUB’s New Year started, as it has in recent years, with the excellent Vintage Stony meeting at Stony Stratford, near Buckingham. Trailering the Bollée somewhat nearer has previously meant that B44 Clive could not take one of his own bikes, but this year he was able to stow his Power Pak powered Rudge bicycle and join the Bollée riding into the Market Square – although PUB actually went on a little detour as the machine seemed to be running well.
Event theme for this year was Jim Clark, with exhibits of a racing Lotus-Ford and an ex-Jim Clark Lotus Elan development car. Before leaving the four-wheelers, Morini Alan found a car which featured a ‘Vincent’ bonnet badge. However, this turned out to be a kit-car whose designer was of that name, so had no connection to the Vincent motorcycles. Another unusual 4-wheel exhibit was a fairly large scale Matador breakdown lorry that was accompanied by a very much smaller – and radio controlled –
