Metal look for 7mm Mk.1 coaches

ANNOUNCED just over a year ago, the first examples of the new ‘O’ gauge Mk.1 coaches from Darstaed have now arrived. This marks the beginning of an extensive range of ready-to-run models of BR’s standard stock that is set to expand rapidly over the coming months.

Founded in 1966, Darstaed was originally a Swiss firm and has a long association with the production of tinplate models, including of British prototypes. However, for this venture into the UK, the company has moved towards the scale end of the ‘O’ gauge market, teaming up with Ellis Clark Trains and Scale Link to offer this new Mk.1 range.

It is alittle surprising that the company opted to go with the long-lived coaches for this project, given 7mm scale is already well served by models
