Given how many major makeovers Triumph’s Tiger range has been given in its 80 years of existence, the updates to this year’s models aren’t exactly dramatic at first sight. However, dig a little deeper and there are more than 200 chassis and engine upgrades, new technology and a desire from Triumph to improve the bikes’ off-road capability. So, rather than reinventing the wheel, Triumph engineers have refined what they already have in the hope that the new Tiger 800 range gives a boost to the already impressive sales figure of 68,000 units sold since 2010.
NATURAL HABITAT
If you thought the UK road network was bad, take a little ride in Morocco where tarmac quite often only covers half the width of the road, with lorries and buses regularly forcing you into the dirt. In places there seem to be more potholes than sealed surfaces, and sometimes the roads just morph into red clay tracks for miles. Throw in a good number of stray dogs, grazing donkeys and camels, as well as curious kids trying to high-five you as you ride past, and you have a fairly standard Moroccan riding environment.
