Sherco has been an interesting company to watch grow. Founded in 1998, through the years the last of the French motorcycle manufacturers was built on solid basic foundations until just a few years ago, when it hit on a brilliant chassis and engine package and suddenly became a star in the ranks outside the big five brands.
Since then, it’s had race wins in some huge events — none bigger than Australian Matt Phillips winning the Enduro GP champion, a title he clinched fittingly in France on a 300 SER-F. Not bad for an independent company that only started making enduro bikes in 2001
In the toughest of times, it’s survived, while others such as Gas Gas have suffered and some have even disappeared. But Sherco has kept improving the product, stayed active in racing and enjoyed a subsequent growth, with sales in over 50 countries and a share capital of seven million euros.
