MATERIALS
• 55cm ( 5/8yd) grey and white stripe print fabric (centre panel background)
• 50cm ( 5/8yd) black on white print fabric (circle panels background)
• 20cm ( 1/4yd) each of three black on white print fabrics and two white on black print fabrics (pentagon and pinwheel backgrounds and sashings)
• 60cm ( 3/4yd) each of a black on white and a white on black print fabric (large circle block backgrounds)
• Assorted bright and black with white print fabrics. Some pieces will need to be as large as 9in square; otherwise 20cm ( 1/4yd) cuts, fat eighths and scraps will be suitable
• Scraps of assorted solid bright fabrics (centre panel sashings)
• 60cm ( 5/8yd) black and white stripe print fabric (binding)
• 4.1m (4 1/2yd) backing fabric
• Batting at least 200cm (80in) square
• Template plastic and permanent-marking pen
• Cardboard
• 24 pre-cut paper pentagons with 1in sides and 28 precut paper hexagons with 3/4in sides or stiff paper to make your own
• Spray starch
• Fabric basting glue (optional)
• Milliner’s needle
• Variety of bright Perle 8 threads (quilting)
• Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
• Sewing machine with 1/4in and walking feet
• General sewing supplies
Finished size: 184 x 173cm (72 1/2 x 68in)
Note: Read all the instructions before starting the project. It is recommended that fabrics be 100% cotton, pre-washed and well ironed. Requirements are based on fabric 107cm (42in) wide.
