Standards matter
What would it take for me to consider a battery electric vehicle? I like to travel by car on vacations. I notice while pumping my gas that any car, foreign or domestic, can use the nozzles available. Why? Standardization. I do not think battery standardization in BEVs will occur in my lifetime. But if standardized placement and size of battery packs occurred, you could pull into any BEV-equipped station, go to the battery exchange side, and replace it with a fully charged one. Bad batteries could be weeded out of the system and recycled. Until then I believe plug-in BEVs will remain city or suburban cars.
