CHICAGO - New Pirates ace Chris Archer took a brief pause during his introductory news conference Wednesday to apologize to the media in Pittsburgh.
"Sorry," Archer said. "Just to let y'all know, I can get a little long-winded, especially when I'm passionate about something."
Baseball players don't normally get passionate about being traded to Pittsburgh, a football-crazed city that eats hockey for dessert. The town tends to treat the Pirates as an empty-calorie snack that should be avoided at all costs.
