Commentary: Carjacked — by a boy who reminded me of my son

A spiteful face, a grimy exterior and eyes of rage.

If I ever fell victim to a violent crime, I was certain the perpetrator would have these features, especially the eyes.

In October, I was carjacked in the parking garage of the Trader Joe's in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood. It was about 1 p.m. on a Friday.

I had just finished shopping with my active 15-month-old baby girl. After strapping her up safely in the car seat, I went to quickly return my cart.
