Koehler, rejected by the Blue Jays, is Dodgers' latest bullpen reclamation project

SURPRISE, Ariz. - The offer left Tom Koehler elated but curious. He had just completed what he called "an absolute disaster" of a season in 2017, which persuaded the Toronto Blue Jays to cut him. Now the best team in the National League sounded rabid for his services. Something did not add up.

In a meeting with Los Angeles Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and manager Dave Roberts, Koehler found an apt metaphor: He felt like a marching band geek who had been asked to the prom by the most beautiful girl in school.
