RAKE COMMENDS

They say that if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. Yet the same is true of London. The opportunities in the U.K. capital are vast, and the scale of the city is equally monumental. The many districts of London all boast their own distinct feel, from the romantic elegance of Mayfair to the bustling fervour of Soho and the lavish charm of Holland Park to the alternative edge of Hoxton. London begs to be explored, but if you’re on a time limit there are certain things you must do. As you’ll know, London is a mecca of fine tailoring, and it almost goes without saying that if you’re in the market for a bespoke suit, there is nowhere else like Savile Row. A sartorial pilgrimage’s Editor, Tom Chamberlin, swears by Kent, Haste & Lachter on nearby Sackville Street for their “incredible craftsmanship” and the fact that it is the “most enjoyable retail experience” he’s come across. Aleksandar Cvetkovic, the Editor of , recommends Edward Sexton in Knightsbridge for their house style, which is “nostalgic, comfortable and yet razorsharp”. It would be a shame to leave London’s West End without strolling through one of the quaint arcades that dissect parts of Mayfair. Piccadilly Arcade, Royal Arcade and Burlington Arcade are all romantic throwbacks to a glamorous London of old, yet they’re thoroughly relevant in the 21st century, housing boutiques ranging from quirky gentlemen’s outfitters (New & Lingwood) and vintage watch emporiums (The Watch Club) to luxury fashion brands (Paul Smith).
