A boutique and spa helps women with cancer
Taking care: Catherine Easdown of Compassionate Beauty.

"I've been surrounded by cancer my entire life," says Catherine Easdown, a former nurse based in Vancouver, British Columbia. She's not kidding: Among others, her mother, aunt, best friend, brother-in-law and two uncles have all fought various forms of the disease.

But it wasn't until she visited a cousin in Calgary, Alberta, who'd been diagnosed with breast cancer that helping, an oncology boutique and spa dedicated to women battling all types of cancer. "My cousin was ecstatic that she'd found it," Easdown remembers. "I'd been a nurse for 20 years, then retired from the hospitality business after 15 years. But something was missing in my life. I wanted to help people. When I saw that store, I thought this was a perfect fit for me."
