But when magic starts fading from the land, their entire way of life is at risk. Not willing to lose it all when everything seems within her reach, Aili is determined to save magic.

Wasn't magic supposed to make her life better? The magical lightning trapped in her body destroyed her ability to control her powers. Her emotions are erratic, and she bursts into tears for no reason. She doesn't dare try using any magic abilities at all, for fear of demolishing the Scout camp she calls home. Her one chance to regain her new life is a visit to an old friend, the best healer in Athia. While back in the capital, Aili learns that their last mission wasn't as finished as she hoped. There are more people involved, all seeking immense magical power. Great mages play a political game she'll never understand. Her powers make her a target, as they can tap into her abilities for their own benefit, and she doesn't know how to prevent it. Even she doesn't know what her limits are, or what risk she poses to others if her powers are stolen. Aili takes refuge in the forest with her friends, where they discover the problem is more complicated than they thought. Something is affecting the forest she swore she'd protect, and a sickness is spreading through the plants. Mages are hunting her. Fire is a constant danger in an older forest, and a careless spell can start an inferno. Can Aili survive the ride of her life and find out who's behind everything, or will she perish in the flames?

Healers can't save everyone… When she gets the opportunity to study at the best Healing Centre in the country, how could she say no? She'll get to see magic used in ways she never imagined were possible. Who knows? Maybe it'll help distract her from the family secret she discovered… A new forest also means new dangers. Being so close to the mountains, there are storms like she's never seen before, too. Scouts are constantly researching the new plants discovered in the rainforest, and any of those could be a new healing potion ingredient, or a deadly poison. Scouts aren't the only mages around the forest, though. People fall ill, and the healers get to work immediately. But nobody has seen this sort of illness before, and none of the standard treatments are working. Aili's abilities let her see the illness differently, but what is she even looking for? Can she learn anything useful and develop a treatment somehow? As the sickness spreads, anybody could be next. When someone she loves and depends on falls ill, can she find the cure and save their life? Will she lose them forever?

Dark Magic is coming back… Finally, a chance to go home and relax. Or not. On their way back, they pass through the capital city. Someone, or something, is attacking people in the streets. Magical artifacts are going missing from some of the most secure buildings in the country. Whispers on the street have the Scouts involved somehow, but why? When the Civic Defence Forces detain her mentor, Aili barely escapes without being seen. There's no way a Scout was involved, and she'll prove it. While they waste time investigating innocent Scouts, Aili will find the real criminals. All she has to do is evade the law, investigate public buildings without being seen, and find out who's behind the attacks and theft. But when magic at a crime scene looks familiar, Aili has to question things she thought were certain. The trail leads her across the country, alone, and still pursued by the law. All she has are her courage, abilities, determination, and some new friends she meets along the way… Will it be enough?

When you're one of a kind, you go where you're needed. Scouts are the best trackers in the world, with or without magic, and they followed the Dark Magic south. Since her unique abilities let her face Darkness and trap it, Aili and her friends are on their way to help. This might be a chance to stop the Darkness from spreading, once and for all. The land has dangers she never dreamed possible. Who knew snow got so deep, the cold could hurt you, and bears got so big? At least tracking in snow is easier. That's assuming she doesn't die of hypothermia, get eaten by a bear, or get caught in an avalanche. Will she even survive long enough to find the Darkness she seeks? If she survives long enough to hunt down the source of Darkness, what will she find? Will she and her abilities be enough to keep her friends safe? Can one little light really dispel the Darkness, or will Aili be overwhelmed and snuffed out for good?
