The Willow Tate Series

Willow Tate is a graphic novelist who earns just enough money at her craft to keep he rent-controlled Manhattan apartment and still put food in the refrigerator. Then she decides to write about a troll who's a superhero — and one suddenly appears, causing mayhem in Manhattan. The odd thing is that nobody except Willow can actually see the stony red giant.   Willy thinks she's going crazy just like her grandmother did, until she meets handsome, sophisticated, and oh-so-British Agent Grant from the Department of Unexplained Events. According to him, Willy has managed to break ages-old cosmic laws that could destroy the world as we know it.    Now she has to help him save the planet, rescue a little boy, and find a murdering kidnapper who wants to use the power of a small village in the Hamptons to become master of the universe.   Along the way, Willy discovers that trolls don't deserve their bad reputation, that she's not the only person in the town of Paumanok Harbor with special talents, and that magic and true love really do exist.

Willow realized then that many of her relatives and their neighbors possessed a whole range of psychic talents—truth-knowing, scrying, weaving wishes, picking lucky numbers, etc. And all of them seemed privy to everything that happened in her life.    So when magic and mayhem return to Paumanok Harbor, of course Willy is called upon to rescue the little town.    Three magical mares are searching the Long Island village for a missing colt, and their distress is causing sleepless nights, bad tempers, and dangerous brawls among the gifted but peculiar residents.    The Department of Unexplained Events sends Willow some help, a world-famous, horse-whisperer. A HOT TIME IN THE HAMPTONS    Graphic novelist and Visualizer Willow Tate can draw images of beings from the neighboring realm of magic, possibly "drawing" them from their world to ours in the process. So why has she foolishly decided to make the hero of her next book a fire wizard?    Is that why the strange fire bugs suddenly appear at the East Hampton fireworks display and then start heating things up in and around the little Long Island town of Paumanok Harbor? These miniature arsonists are causing a whole lot of trouble, and when a baby swallows one and begins to cry flames, Willy knows she needs professional help to put a damper on the situation.    This time the Department of Unexplained Events sends a "fire fighter," Piet, a man whose very presence prevents fires from starting.    With a tabloid reporter focusing his attention on Willow's activities, and a science teacher determined to turn the fire flies into an energy source, Willow will be hard-pressed to keep the town's secrets safe.    Not only does she need to find a way to send the fire flies back to their own dimensions, she and Piet—who are starting to generate some heat of their own—have to track down a real arsonist who seems determined to set the area ablaze…
