About this series

"We're friends, right? Nothing's going to change that."

Yes. Of course. Whatever you say.

That was last year, full of surprise and change for Allison Anderson. Confident after summer break, she can't wait for sophomore year to start. She especially looks forward to seeing David Caldera, hoping they can become more than just friends. But the first day back at school he's puzzlingly distant. In spite of her determination to remain stoic and independent, she's hurt when his chilly behavior persists. Especially when others seem to be getting the attention she longs for.

On the plus side, new friends and opportunities, equestrian and otherwise, continue to expand her world and provide welcome distraction. She's especially thrilled to have more time with Melanie, getting to know her quiet friend better, and spending time at Northfield Equestrian Center.

As she seeks stability in her emotions and life in general, she also finds a strength and contentment she didn't believe possible. Revelations will answer many questions and pose new challenges. And Dave?

Time will tell.

Copper is the moving second book in The Glister Journals coming-of-age YA fiction series. If you like budding first relationships, personal growth, and true-to-life situations, then you'll adore B B Shepherd's delightful slice of realism.

Friends are hard to find and even harder to keep for Allison. She knows starting high school in a new town will be challenging, but finding a lost horse gives her an accepting friend at home. Unsure what to do about it, she decides to keep it a secret. Expecting the usual social difficulties at the new school, Allison is surprised and suspicious when a group of teens, unlike any she's met before, takes an interest in her. When she reveals her secret to them, she's immediately drawn into their equestrian world. Though she's always struggled with physical activities in general and has never been involved in sports, being with horses captures her heart and imagination as nothing has before. She begins taking riding lessons at a nearby ranch while keeping the lost horse a secret from her parents. Meanwhile, life at school is not as simple and enjoyable as being around horses. Her sudden closeness to a certain pair of brothers is apparently a problem for other people, and her secretive behavior has her parents worried. And even though she loves just being around horses, she begins to worry that she's not good enough, that her friends will lose interest and give up on her. How can she possibly keep up with them when they've ridden all their lives?   If you love stories of friendship, relationships, and new experiences, then you'll love Bronze!
