Saul Imbierowicz' s life has not been the same since the fateful night that Al Capone murdered him. And even though Saul is now one of the living dead a vampire his life is still fraught with challenges as he tries to understand his vampire powers. His partner Christian is no longer threatening to stake Saul, but Saul is still searching for answers as he tries to understand his new powers.
Meanwhile, Al Capone is being released from prison, but that is the least of Saul' s worries. Eliot Ness has deemed the notorious gangster off limits, while Director J. Edgar Hoover has taken note of Saul and Christian' s activities and has his own plans for the two agents. When Mr. Brown' s mysterious master finally reveals herself, she puts Saul' s family in more danger than they' ve ever been in before. Saul' s life continues to change, and not for the better. The choices that Saul must make in order to save his family, stop Capone, and deal with new threats, might come at a price too high for Saul to pay.

Prohibition. Gangsters. Vampires. In 1929 Chicago, Saul Imbierowicz is swept up in a conflict between rival gangs, federal agents, and supernatural forces beyond his control. Saul becomes involved with the mysterious Moira and is soon mixed up in the events of the St. Valentine' s Day Massacre, with Moira taking a bullet and presumed dead. However, Moira is not dead, and Saul finds himself entangled between Bugs Moran, Al Capone, and the Feds. Everybody wants something from Saul or his parents will die. But saving his family becomes more difficult when Saul learns that vampires are not just legends.

Now Saul works for Eliot Ness, trying to take down Chicago' s most notorious gangster. Being a vampire has its ups and downs and Saul has a million questions about his new “ life” . Al Capone offers to answer Saul' s questions, but for a price that Saul is unwilling to pay. When the mysterious Mr. Brown returns, Saul learns that a vampire war is brewing. As Saul struggles to keep himself from becoming a monster like Capone, he must work with Agent Christian Wright, a task which is easier said than done. Christian would rather stake Saul than work with him, but Christian knows that a vampire war would be disastrous. This fledgling partnership must succeed, or Chicago will pay the price.
