    The fire truck was taking longer to fill up than any of them hoped. Randall, Jim, and Mr. So were on the top of the fire truck with their squirt guns as people slowly approached them. They were obviously not zombies by the way they walked. They had weapons with them but still unable to tell if the bullets were contaminated or not, they were loath to use them. The inverter that Jim had used for the ham radio luckily worked, wired into the old gas pump, although slower than normal it worked and was filling the gigantic tank of the fire truck.

"Tad Spector at your service!" I remember vaguely a week ago talking to the President on the phone. "Look Tad, I heard you were the best. I need you on my team, on my side. You hear me. I need a guy that's not a part of the system." Seemed a bit paranoid at the time. But now he seemed even more suspicious. "They are after me, Tad. You can keep a secret right. I mean that's your job."

      - Tad thought things were done. Hearing her clinking around some more in the kitchen, Tad realized he should have been up and helped her with whatever she was working on. But as he was thinking that she was back in the bedroom again with a plate of food, bacon, and eggs. And as she handed it to him the lights flicker for a second. - Over and finished. They both look up to the lightbulbs. Then in a sudden, final-feeling moment, they completely turned off. And once again Tad realized that they were in something bigger than he had hoped. As he went to take his first bite of the hot food in the darkness, he heard glass break outside. - But it was just the beginning.
