About this series
Anya was thrilled to be reunited with her father, legendary giant the Bodach. The rest of the world, not so much.
With Chris by her side and her powers at their peak, Anya, the Queen of Winter, did the unthinkable and freed her father and brothers from their stone prisons. After all, now that all of Elphame knew of the Seelie King's treachery it seemed like the right thing to do. But Elphame was no longer a land where giants roamed, and most were wary of Bod and the boys.
Adding to the unease was the lack of information about the Seelie Queen. Nicnevin remained missing, and no one knew if she was alive or dead. Her absence coupled with the Seelie King's exile meant there was a power vacuum in Elphame, one the Bodach was all too eager to fill.
Spurned by his wife, the Bodach allied with an ancient evil who was lying in wait for a chance to take Elphame for himself. The only person powerful enough to stand in their way is Anya.

The Queen of Winter is out of control, and only a mortal man can save her. When Beira, the Cailleach Bheur of legend, was stripped of her crown her daughter, Anya, became the new Queen of Winter. Anya was Beira's only daughter and the only one who could safely see Scotland through the coming chill, but as winter drew near Anya's burgeoning abilities spiraled out of control, freezing anything—and anyone—she touched. There were two things Chris never doubted: his love for Anya, and that she could handle her new role as Winter's Queen. As for everything else in his life, that was another matter. He was a teacher who couldn't teach, because Carson University had been wrecked by warring gods. He was a bestselling author who couldn't publish his next book due to an ongoing legal battle sparked by his ex-fiancée. And try as he might he still couldn't live down having once been the Seelie Queen's lover. With Anya's powers threatening to destroy everyone around her, Chris turns to his sister and her partner, the gallowglass, for help. Together they learned that Anya had more enemies than she ever knew, and they'd followed her out of Elphame and to Scotland itself. As Chris frantically searches for a way to help Anya, she goes her mother for guidance. Living in the rebuilt Winter Palace, Beira no longer had the strength to hold Anya's gifts in check—but what she did have was a secret passage into the Unseelie Court. There, Anya learns a secret so big it could shake the very foundations of Elphame. But would these secrets matter if Anya froze the realm solid? The fate of Elphame hangs in the balance. Anya, the Queen of Winter, is the only one who can save it. Anya's problems are stacking up, with each one worse than the last: The Bodach is missing, Crom Cruach has taken over Elphame, and the Seelie Queen—one of the few who had a chance of defeating Crom—is dead. Then tragedy strikes again, and Anya's parents are taken from her, too. And Chris, her partner in all things, ends up in the underworld. Oops. Cut off from her most powerful allies, Anya must call upon friends old and new to defeat Crom and restore Elphame to its former glory.
