About this series

- A sci-fi thriller and sequel to Church of the Assassin -

Codename Ares. A legend. A ghost story. They say that seven years ago, she rained down hell from the stars, cutting through everyone in her path: cops, intelligence officers, assassins. All for a baby girl. They say that if she really was just one person, she died under a thousand tonnes of rubble.

They're wrong.

Alexiares has kept Baby safe for seven years, staying one step ahead of assassins and hunters. But one step isn't enough. Not when their new enemy reveals himself. Her worst nightmare becomes reality: Baby is ripped from her. Taken to be made into the perfect assassin – something Alexiares promised she wouldn't allow.

The clock's ticking and her failure is almost complete. She must work out why she's still alive while staying ahead of the assassins, a government task force, and the malevolent whispers of her own broken mind. She must find a way to rescue Baby. And she must remind them all of one thing...

She is the only thing they fear.

When a boy's decaying soul is up for grabs, two budding witches turn high school into a minefield of betrayal and vicious retribution.   Dark witch December Bowen is supposed to be taking her powers to the next level. On her first day of class, the formerly homeschooled teen is pressured to reap the boy she loves to fuel her emergence from obscurity. But unable to doom him to a shadowy half-life, she vows instead to keep him safe.   Rival caster Charlotte Solvnik will do anything to climb out of a garbage life. When new classmate December reveals her unique abilities, Charlotte will infiltrate December's life to claim the boy she needs to jumpstart her own magic. She will even cast a dangerous, ancient spell to bind the boy to her… a decision that will haunt her for the rest of her life.   As December agrees to a perilous ritual in exchange for help, she begins training with the slimmest hope of surviving. Until Charlotte reveals December's biggest secret to the one person that could destroy them all…   The question is no longer who will win. It's who will survive?   Contemporary Spellcraft is the enthralling first book in the Nexus urban fantasy series. More George R.R. Martin than J.K. - A Sci-Fi Thriller and the 5th Standalone NEXUS Novel - "Church of the Assassin is fast-paced, a real thrill ride and a brilliantly executed page-turner." - Readers' Favorite   KILL ONE TO SAVE A HUNDRED   Alexiares spends her time killing, tinkering with a car she never drives, and wondering if she's a sociopath. This simple life is complicated by a deadly purge of her sect and she finds herself on the run, trying to make sense of the slaughter. She's not alone: the broken-minded assassin has inherited a baby girl. But how can hands that know only how to squeeze necks and strip engines ever nurture a child? When painful revelations, betrayals, and secrets show Alexiares that her life can only cause Baby pain and suffering, she'll have to make a difficult choice.   Across the galaxy, one seemingly natural death puts rookie Intelligence officer Ryan Blake on a collision course with Alexiares. His journey into desperation and madness will reveal a world he'll wish had stayed hidden. One full of mysteries and death. As his mentor says, there are cases to make your career and there are cases to make you look over your shoulder for the rest of your life, right up until it ends abruptly and violently.   KILL A HUNDRED TO SAVE ONE   Relentless hunters want both her and Baby, and they will tear worlds apart to get them. They are bigger, stronger, and more resourceful. But Baby is more than a newfound vulnerability to Alexiares: she is a reason to live. A reason to kill.   When you take a shot at an apex predator, do not miss.
