About this series
Description—Dogs of War
"Cry 'Havoc!' and let slip the dogs of war."
—William Shakespeare, Act 3, Scene 1, Julius Caesar
They're here. In America. Thousands of Islamic terrorists committed to a rabid jihad that ends only when they've butchered the last man, woman, and child. Worst of all, they have nukes. The Day of Jihad is at hand. The odds of Western civilization being snuffed out grow stronger each day.
Compounding the threat, the Chinese are solidifying their grasp throughout Asia, while behind the scenes they sponsor the Islamic terrorists. Once an ineffective and weakening America crumbles, the Chinese are ready to extend their dominion over the entire planet. The Russian president is strengthening his grip on Europe and in the Middle East. Cyberwarfare is ramping up from Beijing to Moscow to Pyongyang to Tehran. And AGU—the Alliance for Global Unity is orchestrating it all.
Only the shadow government known as the Society of Adam Smith, or SAS, may be capable of dealing with this threat. And it desperately needs the skills possessed only by that deadliest of hunter-killer teams, the Sleeping Dogs, including their newest member, an Australian.
With his rogue brother, the monstrous Maksym, intent on killing his family, can Brendan Whelan reunite the Dogs in time?
Heart pounding, non-stop action pulls the reader around the globe from one crisis spot to the next as Western civilization faces its worst onslaught in history.
Description—A Deadlier Breed
"Maybe Homo sapiens isn't the final step in human evolution."
The Chinese believe world domination is their destiny. To cripple the West, they've armed Islamic terrorists with tactical nuclear weapons. One already has been used to destroy the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the surrounding town. The terrorists have moved the remaining weapons to a point just across the border in Mexico and plan to smuggle them into major American cities within days.
To avoid the widespread panic that public knowledge of the situation would cause, the president of the United States turns to a secretive paramilitary group known as the Sleeping Dogs. Its members share a rare genetic attribute that makes them the world's deadliest hunter-killer black ops team. They also are highly dysfunctional. Their leader, Brendan Whelan, has a marital crisis on his hands. Their handler, Cliff Levell, is being held incommunicado in jail for contempt of a grand jury. And a traitor within the administration is leaking vital security information to a treacherous entity supporting the terrorists. Compounding the threat, that entity has recruited a group of killers with the same rare genetic attribute as the members of the Sleeping Dogs. Their purpose is to eliminate the Dogs.
Time is critical and Whelan and the Sleeping Dogs face their most dangerous challenge yet.

1
Before its collapse, the USSR created an apparatus of moles and agents and used them to infiltrate and gain control of unions, academia, entertainment, and the news media. By succeeding to the USSR's efforts, a group of international financiers (the Alliance for Global Unity or AGU) gained control of one of America's two political parties. Their goal is to destroy the West, principally America, and create a one-world government in which they control all things financial. They now control Congress and the White House, with the Supreme Court basically divided. AGU's handpicked president is up for reelection, but he has become dazzled by his own "rock star" status, and no longer follows orders. The control group determines that he must be assassinated so a new, more compliant candidate can be elected. The killing is to take place as the president delivers a Labor Day speech on the steps of the Capitol Building, but it must look as if the opposition party has done it. In keeping with today's polarized environment, a group of patriots from the military, intelligence, and industrial communities (the Society of Adam Smith or SAS) has formed in opposition to AGU. Two decades earlier, its leaders were part of a government team that trained a group of unique individuals code-named the Sleeping Dogs to become the deadliest hunter-killer black ops team ever. They were used on the most clandestine missions to neutralize America's most dangerous enemies. In an effort to stop AGU's assassination plans, SAS has reunited the Dogs. Not only must the Dogs survive treachery and plot twists to foil the assassination attempt, they also must cripple AGU by bringing down the billionaire arbitrager who distributes funds in support of their sinister plans.

In this follow-up to the international bestselling thriller, Sleeping Dogs: The Awakening, America is a rudderless ship in a world descending into chaos. Its elected government is gridlocked and ineffective. Its citizens are angry and rebellious. Rogue governments spit on Old Glory and defy a weakened America to stop them. Religious fanatics are dedicated to butchering all the world's citizens who don't convert to their beliefs. And the worst is yet to come. From Russian aggression to worldwide jihadism, from China's designs on Southeast Asia to a morally and financially bankrupt European Union, from violent and expanding drug cartels to Iranian nuclear intentions, AGU—the Alliance for Global Unity is close to achieving its goal: a single world government with its members in charge. But appearances may be deceiving. A shadow government of old fashioned patriots is working to change the course of events. Armed with deep financial resources and critical positions in the military and intelligence communities, they just might succeed. The key is the Sleeping Dogs—the world's deadliest hunter-killer special ops unit. But they're an endangered species and their very survival is being challenged. An outstanding Presidential Decision Directive has ordered them to be terminated with extreme prejudice. An angry FBI agent, believing his wife had an affair with the unit's leader, Brendan Whelan, is pursuing him with homicide on his mind. A rogue Russian agent seeks revenge for thwarting his mission to assassinate the president of the United States. And, most chillingly, a huge and mysterious brute named Maksym is systematically hunting down the Dogs one-by-one. The fate of the free world hangs in the balance. There will be blood. "The opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself." —Sun Tzu A rogue government, out of touch with its citizens, is taking America in a direction its people don't want to go—a "socialist republic" with ruling elites, a huge, dirt poor, powerless lower class, and no middle class. With assistance from High Tech, Big Business, Russia, and China, the government is building an unassailable power base. The administration believes it's unrealistic to assume one nation can be the "sole superpower" indefinitely—and history bears that out. In its naivety, it adopts the philosophy "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," and develops a tacit understanding with China—a nation with a 4,000-year-old dream of world domination—to create détente and "shared world governance." China agrees but secretly has other plans. The US administration fears rebellion and wants to eliminate its dissident Citizenry. It asks China to develop a much more virulent pandemic virus than COVID-19, One which is not affected by current vaccines. It trusts China to also provide a vaccine so the administration can inoculate its supporters and essential "worker bees." The economy is in freefall. inflation skyrockets. crime and violence are out of control. Countless millions of illegal immigrants representing votes for the entrenched administration and cheap labor for its ally, Big Business, flow unimpeded across the southern border. America's enemies gleefully watch and plan as what was once the world's only superpower descends to Third World status. A small, but effective group of true patriots, hoping to restore integrity and virtue to government, first must stop the use of the virus. The only ones who might be able to do that are a battle-weary group of special operations veterans. The problem is the American government, in cooperation with the Chinese, has sent the world's best assassins to hunt them down and kill them.
