About this series

They didn't plan on falling in love.

Poppy Daley is staying on her parents' Catmint Gap homestead when the global pandemic traps them abroad. Their chickens and gardens can't take care of themselves, and Poppy's job can be done from her laptop.

Disgraced TV writer Nick Cooper is hiding out in a rented cabin up the mountain from the Daley's property, oblivious to his neighbors until an old friend gets lost dropping off a care package and offends the girl next door, bringing Lilac Lane's only residents into one another's orbits.

Poppy and Nick share an instant connection, but masks and social distancing hardly lend themselves to romance...or do they? When the quarantine curveballs keep coming, it's up to Nick to prove to Poppy that misfortune can only delay the best laid plans.

Kate Pease knows better than to fall for a tourist in her postcard town. Thornton's favorite pastry chef is expanding her bakery. The last thing she needs is a visiting professor bad mouthing her livelihood in an interview, even if he turns out to be more dreamy academic than snarky out-of-towner. Ewan Lovatt is in Thornton, Vermont for a semester to teach while he researches his next novel. His agent wants pages, but tangling with the town sweetheart is irresistibly inspiring. Everything about Ewan turns Kate on...except he's not staying. She's not inclined to risk her heart, but there's nothing wrong with a fling. What if love isn't just passing through? The second novel in the Thornton, Vermont trilogy, Sweet Pease revisits the town—and characters—readers fell in love with in Damselfly Inn.

Coming home can be complicated   Anneliese Thompson dreams of weddings, though her own marriage was a nightmare. Five years ago, broke and on her own, she rebuilt her life under her parents' roof in Thornton, Vermont. Now Anneliese is a sought-after event planner, and she's finally making a home of her own.   Jack Pease took Anneliese's friendship for granted before breaking her heart and leaving Thornton for fast-paced career in the city. In the wake of a family crisis, Jack puts his charmed life on hold to help his parents—now he's a tourist in his own hometown, unsure of where he stands with his childhood friend. He can't resist trying to close the distance between them, but Anneliese has learned the hard way not to trust her emotions.   Without the barrier of distance, she finds herself unable--or unwilling--to ignore the attraction between them. When Anneliese's past and Jack's future collide, they'll have to choose: take the leap together or abandon the fragile magic they've found in Thornton.   The third novel in the Thornton, Vermont trilogy, Family Practice returns one last time to the town—and characters—readers fell in love with in Damselfly Inn and Sweet Pease. The series is best enjoyed in order, and for those who can't get enough of Thornton, the short story collection Sugaring Season explores more love stories from this beloved Vermont village.

In 1953, a young Naval officer returned home to his family and fell in love with the girl who met him at the train. Thornton's most enduring love story echoes through the generations that follow George Cartwright and Ginny Fletcher—from Walt and Molly Fuller's youthful passion to Elisha McNair's elegant rediscovery of a childhood infatuation, from Seth Weston's Big Hurt to George and Ginny's daughter's second chance at love. Sugaring Season celebrates the sweetness of everyday love in eight short stories from the world of the Thornton Vermont Series. These eight stories can be read outside the series, or as a companion to the novels. Note: this is the first time these eight stories have appeared together, but some readers may be familiar with some of them already as newsletter freebies or previously published works. The eponymous final story--Sugaring Season--is brand new for this release.   Praise for Sugaring Season:   Sugaring Season explores love stories over time and through the years, not just chronologically, but through different seasons of the characters' lives. From the first hints of teenage love to a second chance for a widow who thought she'd experienced her last waves of romance, Garriepy offers a collection of love stories that reflect various phases of love all readers will recognize and enjoy. ~ Angela Amman, author of Garden Boulevard and Nothing Goes Away   Treat yourself to this taste of what Cameron Garriepy's works always offer: irresistible stories tenderly wrought by an author who understands the sweetness of love. ~ Julie C. Gardner, author of Forgetting Ophelia and Letters for Scarlet   Thornton, Vermont feels real. Ms. Garriepy describes it with real affection, and her prose is sensual. You can taste the flavour of small-town America on every page. Literature and art - from Jules Verne to Van Gogh - entwine seamlessly with cow milking, college degrees, pizza and Scrabble. [...] Small-town life battles the pull of the wide world. The desire for adventure wrestles with the need to belong. There is love as rivalry, love in the shadow of chronic disease, love in absentia, love in the twilight of life: a tapestry of human experience woven from desire and longing. ~ John Dolan, author of Fun With Dick, and the Time, Blood & Karma and Karma's Children series.
