About this series

Tia's heart is on the brink of disaster. Not only is the imposter king her father who is trying to kill her off, but Jack is acting distant and Anvil is flirting more. To make matters worse, the dragons are being directly attacked, and Tia feels constrained to help save them all, even if it means losing herself to do so. Jack is trying to defeat the evil king before the king destroys the entire kingdom with his poisoned mind, but if Jack can't locate his real friends and enemies, he's going to lose everything he truly cares about.

Regardless of their personal battles, Jack has given Anvil magical protection too so he can keep Tia safe. Unfortunately, nothing can stop the sting of untamed evil magic striking against all the wares and castle, or the antics of Prince Klavian and the abbot who oppose Jack for what he's done with Aralot's magically cursed crown. All Jack was trying to do was crown the rightful king. With so many conflicting unseen rules, Jack has to face giving up what he most desires for something he doesn't want. There is no other way to win.

Dragon bonds are meant to last a lifetime. They are not supposed to take a lifetime to get. Bonding a baby dragon looks impossible for Tia Felding. She would hate to think it's because the infants can sense in her a defect passed down through her heritage. Rejected by another group of hatchlings, Tia disobeys orders and runs into the woods in search of the perfect dragon even if that takes her through a wild dragon horde that has been causing chaos and destruction. Even if it means being sold off by a group of rebels. Jack Brixton has always been a renegade, but he never planned on becoming the most infamous one. With his wanted poster getting everywhere, Jack reluctantly agrees to offload Tia for pay even if he hates all riders and has a vendetta against devilish dragons. What started as a simple, uncomplicated job, ends up getting him in trouble when Tia's rejected dragon comes after him next, proving that some dragons can never be run from.

Tia Felding was going to lose her dragon, Misty. Not only did the rare animal belong to the king, but Misty was sentenced to return to the man who hatched her: a man who has separated Tia from a dragon before. It takes all of Tia's strength to keep her head up inside the hostile atmosphere especially since her classmates think she has inherited a disease to attack the very animals they all love. Tia is determined to not fall down, but that's easier said than done when other people want to claim her dragon and threaten Tia's very life. With evil magic already in the land, Jack Brixton refuses to bow to the man that has sentenced his friends and family to a life of slavery that he has already escaped. Jack has taken on the mission to locate the lost prince to stand up to the fake king while he encourages Tia to survive her insane workload.  By trying to defend her dragon, Tia's secret mental ability is on the brink of being discovered as are Jack's renegade roots. Ending up in the wrong camp could be disastrous for either of them especially since all dragons have fangs and all renegades know how to bite.

All of Tia's worst fears are coming true. She knew that she could one day turn crazy and seek to destroy the very dragon she has fought so hard to keep alive, but she didn't expect the mental infection to hit her so soon. There isn't time to fight with her dragon. She needs to help Jack find a way to put the prince on the throne when they have limited magic, unlike the evil spellcaster. There's also the matter with her complicated love life. If only she could focus! Her new teacher thinks she's hopeless, but Tia has to try even if her trusted sources all have secret agendas of their own. If Tia can't find the cure, her soul is going to be torn in two.   Jack tries to help Tia with her struggles, but he can't escape the feeling that he's part of the cause. Even with the setbacks, Jack is determined to follow his heart toward magic, a crown, and guarded information so he can stop the fake king who has secretly cursed and silenced more than they knew. However, some evils are too strong to fight, and it might already be too late to save everyone.

Finding meaning in life—feeling like you’re contributing to all of humanity in a good way—is a large undertaking. When I write, it’s the task I take on. Sometimes, that task is daunting. Sometimes, it’s full of laughter, joy, and fear. Reaching the end of a book can put me on top of the world or cause me endless frustration. But I can’t stop myself from trying. I can’t stop the inner clock that ticks and tells me that writing is something I enjoy the heck out of and there is nothing that will stop me from writing for long. As one of the quiet people in the universe, my best joy and flow in life comes when I’m creating new worlds and exploring characters. For me, each book I create finds new friends that share with me the intimate tangles of their lives. They cheer and I cheer. They succeed and I rejoice. They fall and I’m there hoping for that happy ending right along with them. I hope that you can find something in the stories I create that will bring you the same type of thrill. Thanks for sticking to the end!- Amanda Heit
