About this series

New Banker in Town
Paul Weaver felt Sweetwater, Kansas, was going to be one of those towns along the railroad that would grow quickly. Everything Paul looked for before building a large bank was present – and much more…
The woman who had broken his heart, almost broken his spirit, was also there. A woman he thought lost to him. Was pain from her betrayal so raw it would cripple him more than his missing limb? Would old wounds resurface and loss overwhelm his ability to be the businessman he had become?
Sweetwater could turn out to be his Waterloo. Does he accept his life as it is or fight for what it should have been if he had listened to his heart so many years ago?

Happy Endings
1874 Sweetwater was growing in all sorts of ways. New bank, new school and new houses for the families settling there joining the original ranchers. This busy town was earning a reputation for peaceful living and prosperity for everyone.
Will an unwanted intrusion from outsiders bring all that to an end? Would the townspeople and those in the perimeter of protection be endangered? Or will everything work out as it was meant to for the people living and loving in Sweetwater?

Susan Kay Payne

I have been reading as far back as I can remember. Works too advanced for an 8 year old but that didn't stop me. I loved words. In 2015 I decided to put the stories I had dancing through my mind into my computer where I could read them whenever I wanted. I now have over 85 stories of varying lengths - mostly novels. My husband urged me to get them published - even told me it was on his bucket list. The Wild Rose Press was my choice to put those first stories into book form. The Sweetwater series of 8 stories put into 4 books will be out soon (2019). I also sent a few stories in to other publishers and have a contract on Montana Lineman with Literary Wanderlust out by end of 2020. I write historical romance - Medieval, Highland, Georgian, Regency and my favorite Western US. The women were strong and met the challenges of life on the frontier while the men were tenacious workers and fighters whether to break ground for a homestead or be the peacekeepers. I admire the stamina both had to have to make a life and brave a new beginning. I found that same strengths in all those who went before us and make way for what we have become today. I often am found working with my muses acting as stenographer to get their stories told. My husband came home one evening and asked, "You still with your invisible friends? People will think you're crazy." I answered, "Will they think me crazy for having invisible friends or you crazy for being jealous of them?" Now he asks what my "friends" are telling me. I have to remind him that he is still my hero and even after 50 years together can still take my breath away.
