About this series
The man started his Easter Sunday at sunrise, as he did every year. Amidst the beauty of God’s creation, there was no indication that the day’s events were about to change his life forever . . . literally.
When a terrorist attack takes his life, those left behind on Earth mourn the loss of a good man taken too soon. But in truth, the man’s life continues on, with new horizons opening up before him. As the man travels through the realms of heaven and earth, he finds his notions of both to be turned upside down.
“Phillips has offered a breathtaking and important addition to the world of traditional theological allegory, joining Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress and C.S. Lewis’ Pilgrim’s Regress . . . It is beautiful beyond describing and stunning in its impact.” —William Paul Young, author of The Shack
Titles in the series (3)
- Hell and Beyond
“Michael Phillips has done the impossible—written a thriller on hell:” The final book in the spiritual fantasy trilogy, following Heaven and Beyond (C. Baxter Kruger, author of The Shack Revisited). A prominent atheist dies unexpectedly and goes to hell. Or so it appears, but nothing is what it seems in this engrossing allegorical novel about the afterlife. In the tradition of C.S. Lewis’s The Great Divorce and John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, Michael Phillips has produced a riveting tale of eternity. Hell and Beyond is a lively and fascinating trip through the afterlife—one that will inspire you to rediscover the significance of your life here and now. “Phillips has offered a breathtaking and important addition to the world of traditional theological allegory, joining Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress and C.S. Lewis’ Pilgrim’s Regress . . . It is beautiful beyond describing and stunning in its impact.” —William Paul Young, author of The Shack, from the foreword
- The Garden at the Edge of Beyond
A journey into a realm beyond imagination gives one man a glimpse into his own spirituality through messages of faith, hope, and love. A man lies down for a normal night of sleep and inexplicably awakens to find himself in a surreal garden bursting with fantastic aromas and colors. A succession of “tour guides’ come and go, helping him to interpret the landscape’s fragrant messages, each one a clue on the journey to discover his true self, and, ultimately, the Creator of the Country Beyond. “One night, a 48-year-old man undergoes a truly odd experience. He awakens in a strange world, where he is able to discuss theology with such entities as a Scotsman and an Englishman, meant to be the well-known Christian theologians George MacDonald and C.S. Lewis . . . Phillips brings off this unexpected premise surprisingly well . . . a wonderful starting point for some great debate.” —Library Journal
- Heaven and Beyond: A Novel
The author of The Garden at the Edge of Beyond continues his Christian fantasy saga as a tragedy on Earth sends a man on a journey through eternity.
