About this series

The Reckoners: A powerful ghostbuster raised by a spirit, her brilliantly eccentric backup team, a cat who isn't a cat at all--and an otherworldly, fiercely driven Keharian bounty hunter turned battered exile, all of whom now face the consequences of their tangled worlds....

Half-breed bounty hunter Trevarr is gone, captured by the Ghehera Tribunal and in the hands of a resentful former companion who will stop at nothing to extract the name of his clandestine partner: Lisa “Garrie” McGarrity, Southwest Reckoner.

Garrie hunts Trevarr with grim intent, determined to find him in spite of the danger.  But reckoner teammates Quinn, Drew, and Lucia want her focused on the rising ethereal threats at home, any one of which spells disaster of the cataclysmic kind.

Garrie knows in her heart what her team doesn’t—that Trevarr barely survives, that he needs help—and that they all need him just as much as she does, if they’re to have any chance of stopping the massive invader hunkered invisibly over the mountain beside Garrie’s New Mexico home—trapped, wounded, and infinitely more dangerous than it ought to be.

If only Ghehera doesn’t find them all first.

The Reckoners: A powerful ghostbuster raised by a spirit, her brilliantly eccentric backup team, a cat who isn't a cat at all...and a fiercely driven bounty hunter from a different dimension who brings them together when worlds collide. Skilled ghosthunter Lisa "Garrie" McGarrity not only sees dead people, she wrangles them into submission. But her beloved ghostly mentor moved on years ago, and the Southwest has gone quiet under Garrie's hand. Garrie and her team have grown restless and...well, face it. Maybe willing to take a risk or two. So when the relentlessly mysterious and fiercely driven Trevarr (and his not-cat!) shows up asking for help, Garrie is inclined to listen. And when he describes big trouble at the San Jose Winchester Mystery House, she's inclined to go with him, even if it splits her team along the way. But she doesn't expect a mansion crammed with spirits on the brink of madness, and she doesn't expect to face off against the powerful and unfamiliar energies of semi-ethereal beings from another dimension. She definitely doesn't expect the fabric of her own world to unravel around her--with no one but her to stop it. And truly, she has no idea how deep Trevarr's secrets run. ~~~~ "Heart, adventure, and buckets of wonder." --Julie Czerneda, author of Rift in the Sky "Ghosts, aliens, danger, romance, and a non-cat.  As Lisa McGarrity might say, what's not to like?" --Anne Bishop, author of the Black Jewels series "Heroic figures with problems even bigger than they are." --Jacqueline Lichtenberg, The Monthly Aspectarian   "Readers will enjoy the humorous dialogue and ghost-busting lingo..." --Publisher's Weekly "THE RECKONERS is an original paranormal adventure which will fuel your imagination on every page." --Single Titles "Delightful beginning to a new series that's funny and lively with a memorable cast of characters." --Fresh Fiction "THE RECKONERS is the first release in Ms. Durgin's new ghost buster series. It is an original and fresh take on the spiritual world and is intense from page one. I enjoyed the interaction between the main characters and the sexual tension between Trevarr and Garrie is extreme. I look forward to more in this series from Ms. Durgin." --The Romance Reader's Connection "Doranna Durgin begins a new urban fantasy series with The Reckoners, featuring feisty heroine and ghost hunter Lisa McGarrity known to her friends as Garrie. At age ten she learned of her talent to corral and manage ghosts. Rhonda Rose, a ghost, helped her to understand and develop her abilities. Now she heads a team of three: the empath Lucia, Drew who can sense the history of a place, and Quinn who ferrets out data they need...Durgin takes the reader on a wild ride with plenty of twists and turns. --Mel Jacobs at SFRevu

The Reckoners: A powerful ghostbuster raised by a spirit, her brilliantly eccentric backup team, a cat who isn't a cat at all--and a fiercely driven, otherworldly bounty hunter turned battered exile, all of whom now face the consequences of their tangled worlds.... Lisa "Garrie" McGarrity just fought a battle of cataclysmic energies alongside a man who turned out to be not from this world at all. Now she no longer seems quite familiar to herself...or quite under control. But she'd better figure it out fast, because she and her ghostbusting reckoners team have detoured to Sedona, where a friend desperately needs occult assistance--and where fiercely driven, half-human bounty hunter Trevarr keeps glancing inexplicably over his shoulder. It doesn't help that the intense ethereal breezes and vortexes of the Red Rocks have gone utterly silent--and that the regional ghosts, when they do appear, are targeting Garrie. With a rogue entity on the loose, Trevarr's not-cat bond partner also hinting at dire trouble on their trail, and Trevarr himself resting uneasily on exile, Garrie is running out of time to figure out just what's happening to herself--and to the Southwest--and to put a stop it it. Again. ---------- “Storm of Reckoning broadens Garrie’s understanding of herself and what she can handle, leaving readers with a big cliffhanger that is sure to open even more potential paths for her and her team. Durgin deftly focuses on the question of what love can conquer.” –Romantic Times “It simply amazes me how much action Durgin can pack into so few pages without losing sight of the goal at hand.” –Night Owl Reviews “The sequel to The Reckoners, Storm of Reckoning continues the saga of Lisa McGarrity (Garrie) and the alien Trevarr, along with assorted friends and the non-cat Sklayne who assumes the appearance of an Abyssinian feline. An urgent summons from Quinn, one of Garrie’s team of reckoners, takes them to Sedona to find his friend Robin. They find themselves amidst a storm of ghosts, a dying countryside, and murder….Durgin has created a rip-roaring adventure…” –Mel Jacob at SFRevu

Author

Doranna Durgin

Doranna Durgin spent her childhood filling notebooks first with stories and art, then with novels. After obtaining a degree in wildlife illustration and environmental education, she spent a number of years deep in the Appalachian Mountains. When she emerged, it was as a writer who found herself irrevocably tied to the natural world and its creatures - and with a new touchstone to the rugged spirit that helped settle the area, which she instills in her characters. Dun Lady's Jess, Doranna's first published fantasy novel, received the 1995 Compton Crook/Stephen Tall award for the best first book in the fantasy, science fiction and horror genres; she now has fifteen novels of eclectic genres on the shelves and more on the way. Most recently, she's leaped gleefully into the world of action-romance. When she's not writing, Doranna builds author web sites, wanders around outside with a camera and works with horses and dogs - currently, she's teaching agility classes. There's a Lipizzan in her backyard, a mountain looming outside her office window, a pack of agility dogs romping in the house and a laptop sitting on her desk - and that's just the way she likes it.
