The Orchard Series

               Lexi left the only town that she had ever known and headed to The Big Apple. Fueled by heartbreak and longing, she headed out into the world to prove to herself that she wasn’t as broken as she felt, that life could go on.                Ten Years Later…                With four year old Jax in tow, Lexi left New York and the husband who wanted nothing to do with them and headed for the one place she never thought she would return; home. After a failed marriage and a move across the country, Lexi was spent. She couldn’t imagine dealing with another thing, much less the one person who had destroyed her all those years ago, but there he was standing on her parents driveway.                Cole Fulton had been the love of her life, she was sure that they were going to spend the rest of their lives together, just as soon as he returned from the Army. That all changed when he sent her a letter about reenlisting. She had written back in anger, telling him that she wanted him to come home. She knew that the language she had used would make a sailor blush, and she had a good feeling he would be furious, but she never in a million years thought that he would leave her. But he did. He stopped responding to her letters, he stopped calling, he just cut her out of his life completely. It had destroyed her. It took her years to build herself back up and even then there was a piece of her heart that never healed.                Sparks fly when Lexi finds out that not only does Cole live here, but her job at the orchard will leave her working side by side with him. When Lexi loses her temper and lashes out at her parents and Cole, he doesn’t hesitate to follow her and teach her a lesson in respect the old-fashioned way. With a scorched bottom, Lexi finally sits down with the man who broke her heart and rehashes the past, and learns that there are definitely two sides to every story.             After her reunion with Cole, Lexi finds herself spending all of her time intentionally avoiding him. She was having a tough time getting the memories from that night out of her head, and she had made a promise to herself that she wouldn’t give her heart back to the man who shattered it all those years ago, even if it had been a misunderstanding. She had promised herself that she would never leave herself vulnerable like that again, but with him that was such a difficult promise to keep.                In order to keep her distance, Lexi decides to take Jax into town for breakfast and possibly some car shopping. While at the diner, they run into a few familiar faces, one of which happens to be her old best friend, Ellie. The two girls catch up and Ellie invites her to a girl’s night out that night. Deciding that a night out might be exactly what she needs to forget about Cole, she agrees and heads home to get ready.                The girls meet up that night and head out for dinner followed by one too many drinks at Tim’s Tap. When Cole walks in to find Lexi dancing with a handsome stranger, it doesn’t take long for him to realize that she is way too intoxicated to look out for herself. Things get heated when he tries to take her home, and Lexi finds herself being hauled out of the bar over his shoulder. Even in her drunken state she knew that she would pay for her behavior sooner or later.                Waking up with one hell of a hangover, Lexi finds herself in Cole’s bed, although she is fully clothed this time. As the memories of the night come flooding back, she realizes she’s really in for it this time. When she gets downstairs and Cole doesn’t immediately lay into her, but instead makes her breakfast and wants to talk, she knows something is up. Cole assures her that she is going to get the spanking of her life for her behavior, but first he asks her some very personal questions. Questions that could have life changing consequences for Lexi. Questions that she’s not sure she’s prepared to answer. This is a novella of about 11k words. This is the second installment in a four-part series. If that’s not enough, Lexi’s lead foot finally catches up with her and ends with a speeding ticket and a hefty fine, something that Cole would not be happy about. In the interest of saving her bottom from his old-fashioned discipline, Lexi decides to keep the ticket a secret. Her plan would have worked great if Cole wasn’t friends with the cop that pulled her over. Will she be able to keep the ticket a secret? Is the nausea she’s dealing with morning sickness? How will Cole react if she is carrying his child? This is the third and final installment of “The Orchard” series. All three installments will be available as a box set as well as individually.
