By 22, Kareem Bezel has done everything, including fraud, theft, receiving stolen property, theft by deception, identity theft, and embezzlement, to get through Ivy League Columbia University. His crafty spree of thievery propped his older brother, Andre Bezel's illicit drug business right into the cross hairs of corrupt DEA Agent Lucas McKenzey. Set in Philadelphia and its suburbs, LAUGH NOW, proposes that, although you're taken out the ghetto, if you were born to be a hustler that is what you'll be. The story shifts to New York, New York, but before the brothers get there, Dre is under suspicion for a murder. By the story's end, the brothers have a decorated federal agent exposed for the fraud that he is, and a story to tell: "The agent made us do it, or he would have us locked up like he did our dad." Does the bold statement help them avoid mandatory federal terms of imprisonment?
- First Laugh: Bezel Brothers, #2
2
FIRST LAUGH is the prequel to Laugh Now. It is the back story of Kareem Bezel to highlight why he became such a prolific thief by high school, and why Andre Bezel decided to follow in their father's foot steps and sell drugs, despite their father's life sentence. First Laugh also gets into why the brothers have such a love/hate relationship. This is a must read for all Laugh Now, Die Later lovers and those anticipating LAST LAUGH, the next novel in this series set to release January 2014.
- Die Later: Bezel Brothers, #3
3
Assistant United States Attorney Barnswell thinks that he has everything he needs to convict the Bezel brothers. Dre and Kareem are on trial for allegedly violating a laundry list of statues in the United States Code. Problem is, Kareem Bezel sees things quite differently and sets out to prove their innocence in the Philadelphia trial of the year: United States of America vs. Andre and Kareem Bezel, et al. Appropriately, someone must die in order for Kareem to get his way.

"My previous novels explored how people were tied together by crime," Brooks says. "But with A Butler Christmas, I sought to connect peo- ple by the mystery of falling in love with new friends and estranged family. I'm excited and eager and anxious--like going on my sopho- more dance. To join the Prodigy Gold family is a great honor and thrills me to my wing tips." Brooks grew up in Philadelphia be- fore trekking to Los Angeles to study film/TV at UCLA. Finding it difficult to break into Hollywood, he adapted his screen play into his first novel and later pursued an Eng- lish degree at Harvard University and making writing a full-time job. He lives in Philadelphia with a Manx.
