Spiritual Insights from Classic Literature Series

About this series
Are you looking for a different kind of devotional? Well, you've found it.
A lot of spiritual insight can be gleaned as we read classic literature, but please understand that all of these insights are things I thought while reading. This is in no way an analysis of the book as far as what the author was thinking or what he wanted the reader to take away from the story. I once had a reader make a comment to me about my own thoughts when I was writing one of my novels. Whatever she thought I was thinking while writing had actually never occurred to me. That was when the light came on in my mind of why I didn't care for analyzing works of literature. When I teach my students, I want to know what they got out of a specific work. Sometimes they are very insightful and we have the best conversations.
Many of these works in this series are not blatantly Christian, but that doesn't mean Christ or an aspect of the Christian life is completely missing. In fact, it's the opposite
So, read one chapter of the work and then read the chapter I've written here.

8
The Wind in the Willows has been a favorite book for generations. What started as some simple bedtime stories became the book we know and love today. If you're an adult, go back in time to your childhood a little bit and read The Wind in the Willows to your kids. Follow up each chapter of the classic with the corresponding chapters in this devotional companion.
- The Red Badge of Courage: Spiritual Insights from Classic Literature, #9
9
The devotions in this companion to The Red Badge of Courage are not ideas taken directly from the story, but instead one line is used from each chapter of the book and developed to illustrate a deeper spiritual thought. This book is ideal for homeschoolers who want to double up on literature and devotional reading at the same time, for lovers of classic literature, and those who are just looking for something a little different than the norm.
