About this series

This is a paradoxical work.  Basically, it is designed to be read "between the lines." What is this?  This book is written for the family members and loved ones of addicts to help them understand how addicts are created and how they think.

It is a "tongue-in-cheek" approach to the inner workings of an addict.

Addicts are miserable people. Not only are they hard to be around, they also spend their waking moments feeling miserable. They view themselves as worthless, useless, unworthy pieces of trash.  But they never show it.  They are terrified you will see through their bravado and see with scared, weak, helpless child that sits behind their mask of adulthood.

They hate themselves.  They hate their behavior, but they feel they have no choice.  They have taken a piece of childhood shame and made it a part of them.  We call this TOXIC SHAME.  How to you remove shame when it is a part of your body?  It is like cutting off an arm or a foot.  They are driven to do what they do to survive this boiling cauldron of shame that bubbles inside them.
