About this series
Island time is now murder time!
Nobody can tame the enigmatic and mysterious Daufuskie Island. Many have tried; most have failed.
Now a baffling murder can be added to the often-dark history of the small island between idyllic Hilton Head, South Carolina and historic Savannah, Georgia. The body of a local man has been found at the long-deserted undertaker's shanty along with a sole clue that few will understand.
Detective Angela Morton once again joins forces with a forensics expert, Nathan Swale, and rescue dog Dash. All three are damaged souls, but the healing has begun.
Flowing amongst the meandering sandy trails, ancient graveyards, and gnarled live oaks dripping in Spanish Moss there is a mystique in the Daufuskie Island evening air. But in a place where folk magic and black magic still exist, is it an illusion or something more sinister?
Angela and Nathan catch clues from the corners of their eyes, scan faces that reveal nothing and read between lines that make no sense. But can they find the killer before they are both mesmerized by the ancient magic spells of the Gullah people? Is the perpetrator lurking in the dark, dense woods or hiding in plain sight ready to strike again? And is the secretive and mysterious Mother Mabel a know-it-all or a knowing person who sees what others can't?
If Angela and Nathan don't watch their backs, they too might become permanent residents in the sandy soil of a long-forgotten graveyard.
Titles in the series (3)
- Murder and Marshmallows: An Angela Morton Mystery, #1
1
There's a killer with a good aim and a very sharp arrow at Mad River Campground and no shortage of suspects with motives for killing the shifty, lazy odd job man. Detective Angela Morton is tall, attractive, whip smart and she's suffering from a broken heart. On compassionate leave from the Lake Placid Police, Angela is asked to investigate the murder and camping has never been so complicated or dangerous! Together, Angela and her friend Nathan Swale, a forensics expert, turn up some old history that some folks would prefer kept under wraps, then there's the matter of a boy's drowning, an incriminating photo that has resurfaced in a most unfortunate place, a cold case crime that's about to blow wide open, stolen love, and two suspects who aren't telling the whole story. Toss in an arrogant, overblown businessman who has nefarious plans for the small campground and who gets what he wants when he wants, and you've got the perfect mix for Murder and Marshmallows. But, are they moving into somebody's comfort zone? Will the next arrow find one of them? And what about that broken heart? Nathan has eyes only for Angela, but he knows he's got to move slowly to win her over. The cozy campfire and meals under the stars seems like just the right place…if they can survive!
- Sinister Secrets of Hanover Farms: An Angela Morton Mystery, #2
2
You've never met Bernice Peabody-Wells? Be thankful because she's in a class of caustic all by herself and she's just dodged a poison bullet. She lives in fading palatial grandeur at Hanover Farm, her late father's once famous horse racing stable just outside of beautiful Saratoga Springs, New York. But something evil is lurking amongst the walls and gardens of the beloved farm: Fay, the long-suffering housekeeper shows up in odd places, ghost-like figures haunt the gardens at night, and her estranged and aggravating sister Esther has roared back into her life. But there is something not quite right about her! To top it off, there's the small matter of the poisoning attempt! The shadow of doom lurks closer each day! It will take tall, attractive Angela Morton; avid camper, low-key detective, and owner of a broken heart, along with the dark and handsome Nathan Swale, Lake Placid Police forensics expert, to see what others cannot in a world where old world values and lifestyles collide with new age skullduggery and greed in one of America's most beautiful towns. But as Angela and Nathan dive into the world of a bygone era, they discover that the old family house and farm hold more than a few secrets and more than a few suspects who will stop at nothing to keep the truth from leaking out.

Lucinda D. Davis
About the Author Lucinda D. Davis has been reading and loving mystery stories since she was old enough to haunt the narrow rows of books at the small Quebec, Canada village library where she spent her summers. After decades of penning ad copy, marketing, and writing for horse sport magazines, she decided to do what people had been telling her to do for years: write some books! She presently lives in a small hamlet on the beautiful Rideau Canal in Ontario, Canada. Her living room view looks out over the locks and waterways. This idyllic setting replete with friends, and more than a few interesting characters inspired her Boddington Bay series of short 'coffee break' cozy mysteries. Her longer Coppin's Lock series brings England to the Canadian countryside! The stories introduce readers to a trendy town in Ontario, Canada that could have been plucked from the English landscape, quirky characters included! Take the essential and quintessential British tea shop, pub and antique shop, throw in two female sleuths, add a Police Chief left shaking his head and you've got the ideal cozy mystery. While the girls may roam from home from time to time, their hearts are firmly set in Coppin's Locks!
