About this series
How will a life as slave, thief and assassin prepare Amerith for the Warden's role, protecting the King's daughters?
The girl Amerith, a slave plant gatherer for a Potions Master, is thrown out as too big to fetch all the plants the Master needs. Surviving trials and adversity, she grows up to be a skilled thief until she finds herself on the business end of the headsman's axe.
Two purses exchange hands; the "young dead girl" rises to become a world-class assassin until she accepts the position of Warden Mistress to the young Princesses of Lindebalgh.
Her mentor and her debt will return to wreak havoc on more than her life.
Amerith is a short side trip that adds to the experience of Toile and its
characters. It is best read between Book One, The Faux Princess, and
Book Two, The True Princess.

1
Tanial rides with her "sister" princess and a handsome Gapten escort to a faraway King who will choose a bride. Someone wants them dead. Because the Gapten's man killed the genuine Princess, he's frantic to find a replacement or he'll lose his head. A foretoken sends him across Tanial's path and he instantly recognizes her uncanny similarity to the dead princess. His boot against her brow ends her resistance. During their journey, however, the Gapten excites Tanial far more than the idea of being Queen. But to survive to love him, she must befriend her new sister, dupe the King's examiners, endure a weeks-long journey on horseback, and avoid an assassin. The Faux Princess begins the exciting action-adventure fantasy series Dragons Run My Life. Life, love and similar trifles in a world different from and yet analogous to ours. Except for those called dragons.

All together for Miriajona's wedding to Rhion, the King of Aberystrad. • Jenoele is bound to charge Saitanne with treason. • Miriajona, smothered in the whirlwind of wedding dresses, gowns and fittings, is prevented from being alone with Rhion. She cannot wait for it to be over. • Saitanne's dragons vie for her attention while she protects her sisters, hoping to survive with her lover. Assassins, flush with promises of gold of uncertain provenance, plot and scheme to eliminate any of the red-haired princesses as a partner for the King. Pa's taken to spirits, possibly thinking to ease this pain. She sees the path she must follow, in contrast to the one they point toward. She chooses Liam and his goals. A packet of parchments from her Maman lies in her pack, undeciphered. Those only add to her questions, questions she fears only Maman can answer. Again, Tanial chooses Liam and his quest. Lady-at-Arms Bitte takes up the challenge of seeking Maman in the great western city of Slot Minear. Her motivation is lots of time alone with kriger Ejvind Strand. She gets that, and more, with answers that do not satisfy even her. A novella in the Dragons Run My Life series; this version has a revised cover and front and back matter, and minor changes to the story.
- The Journeys Home: Dragons Run My Life, #3
3
Jenoele rides with Tanial, her Regent, and a few trusted friends to Rendekebing and the Lindebalgh palace. With King Esben, her Da, likely dead, she and Tanial will take the throne and control of Lindebalgh, and await their sister Miri, ready for a dual coronation party. Miri and Rhion intend a peaceful, boring thir'dar trip from Sianel Dnias to Rendekebing. That part of their plan succeeds better than Jenoele's. Tanial looks forward to Jenoele's coronation eagerly; on its conclusion, she aims to mount her horse alongside her love and make for her family. Three others trail them north planning a different celebration, one involving death. The Journeys Home is the third of the Dragons Run My Life series, following The Faux Princess and Amerith - The Warden's Tale and The True Princess.
- Forbidden Islands: Dragons Run My Life, #5
5
Fresh from helping Queen Miriajona reclaim her throne, Tanial and Liam are bound to explode myths and taboos, or attempt to. Headed south on the Sianel Rhion, Quest, their knarr, rolled lazily in the swell, driven by the steady winds from the northwest. Their goal: the Forbidden Islands, which lay leagues off the coast of Aberystrad south of Traenthe, due east of Hafan Ddiogel. Those Tanial called 'dragons' had invited them and a seizaine troops to "explore" one of these islands, forbidden by myth and fell experience since history had been kept. Even among the equable 'dragons', disputes between factions had been growing over the future of the Experiment, Territory Two, including Tanial and her mates. She had also been told by these same 'dragons' that she would be needed in her home country of Lindebalgh by her sister, King Jenoele, to prevent all-out war. In a year and a half, more or less. That seemed like an unconscionably long time even for such a major effect until she thought about the speed of travel in her homeland. She hopes her exploration of the Islands will teach her just how to prevent a war. That wasn't one of the things her maman had shared growing up. Forbidden Islands is the fifth book of the Dragons Run My Life series, in which the 'dragons' affect Tanial's life more blatantly.
- Queen Immured: Dragons Run My Life, #4
4
Queen Miriajona and King Rhion of Aberystrad depart Lindebalgh after greeting the people of Miriajona's former country. Their goal is the palace in Traenthe. As they leave, the girls who attempted their murders are exiled by Tanial, Lindebalgh's Princess Regent. Word of the exiles reaches their families, and nothing will satisfy them save having their girls back. Ean Clague gathers his men and rides north to wreak revenge on Rhion and find a ticket to recover his girl. Tanial, the Queen's sister, freed from her honor-bound position as Princess Regent, elects to follow Liam, her lover, as he seeks his troop, abandoned when the Princess quest began. Tanial's dragons interfere with Liam's quest by warning of danger lurking for Miri and Rhion. Everything comes together, but is it too late for Miri and Rhion? Queen Immured is the fourth story in the Dragons Run My Life series. The rest of the story begins the here. The problems of the three red-headed princesses never seem to diminish.
- The Prophecy: Dragons Run My Life, #6
6
End of the world prophecies: so blasé. Unless it's your prophecy. Three red-headed sisters worry it's theirs. Princess Tanial returns from the Forbidden Islands with a dire prophecy: unless she and her sisters prevent it, war will bring the death of all the residents of their lands. Queen Miriajona wrestles with her doom: to rule until her mate rejoins her. King Jenoele cannot abide the thought that her continued rule may require giving up control. A threat to Miri and Jenoele by the religious cult calling itself Ny Regole may be quashed; Tanial then makes her first foray toward Maman's home: Slot Minear, the largest city in the Lindebalgh on the western slopes of the mountains dividing Jenoele's kingdom. Maman awaits there with her own mysteries. So, too, do the Ny Regole. The prophecy reminds Tanial that she misses Maman and her wisdom. Her advice, not so much; she is young. Even in a land where travel and communications are limited by the speed of walking or at best, horseback, calamities rise with fearsome speed. The Prophecy is Book 6 of the Dragons Run My Life series.
- Lovers Reunited: Dragons Run My Life, #7
7
Tanial reaches Slot Minear and meets Maman. Once there, she crosses swords with Lord Vang before they finally come to an uneasy agreement when Jenoele cedes the kingdom of Vest Lindebalgh to her. Mutual trust hasn't bloomed between Tanial and Vang; she sets up her throne in the Broken Shovel Pub, and collects helpful associates. A quick visit to Kongens By where she will site her palace precedes the journey to meet Miriajona in Gwyddoniae Dnias, where her voice promises Tomi King Rhion will be returned to Miri, his Queen. Costly skirmishes along the way prove that the Ny Regole are not alone in wishing fell outcomes on Tanial and her sister, nor have they rolled over to play dead. Miriajona, Queen Rhion of Aberystrad, returns to Traenthe and then sets forth to the western city of Gwyddoniae Dnias, where Tanial's voices promised Tomi would return. The threat to her life and the babe's from an erupting volcano spewing fume and noxious gasses is far less a worry to her than Tomi's return and how he will react to her and the babe, his son. After a quarrel in the eye, she can't expect him to be unchanged. For the nonce, alive will have to do! Tanial's travails are rewarded by Miri and Tomi embracing; beside her watching is the girl who will bring the telegraph into being.
