Neil Webb and his best friend Marie are enjoying their first day of summer vacation when Neil receives a mysterious message from his father. In the message Neil finds out his father Stephen has been using wormholes to visit alien planets. Stephen was on his way to visit a hyper-intelligent species named the Teva when he and his best friend, world-famous scientist Dr. William Lowell, were caught in an alien war and stranded on an uncharted planet, triggering an emergency message to his son. Neil and Marie must travel across the universe to either find his father and Dr. Lowell or finish his father's mission. A mission that will change the course of human civilization. Race Through Space is an adventure story that pays homage to the adventure movies from the 1980's and the real-life scientists that have shaped our understanding of the universe.

Stephen Webb is stranded on a dim, lifeless planet and Dr. Lowell is close to death. Across the universe, Neil and Marie arrive on the ocean planet Amphibios, where they run into an unexpected visitor. The path to finding Neil's father takes them to a scarred planet named Cylosis, where they arrive in the middle of a raging battle between the Resistance forces and the oppressive State. Neil must find the path that leads to his father and Dr. Lowell and if he can't, he must make the decision to move on to Varillam Race Through Space II: The Wave of Time introduces you to new alien civilizations and unique planets.

Neil has been reunited with his father on the dim planet Flora, but an explosion has left Grandpa Al stranded behind.
