As the Guardian of the Crystal of the North, young Susan Sinclair must help restore balance throughout history. But can she survive the incredible adventure awaiting her in ancient Egypt?

So begins the next adventure for Susan Sinclair, the young Guardian of the Crystal of the North, who, by the power of her magical crystal, suddenly finds herself in the heart of ancient Egypt. But restoring balance within the Pharaoh's palace isn't as easy as Susan might wish.

"well researched book irresistible" - Roberta A. Rich                                       I found this well researched book irresistible for a number of reasons. It is written in a clear, fluid style. The characters are full of surprises, and are not what they seem at first. The book is wonderfully suspenseful. Every chapter ends with a –cliff-hanger-. The plot is filled with surprising twists and turns. The author, Ms. Ludlow has a good ear for dialogue. This is a book which will reward the reader with many hours of entertainment .

The kids are part of the children's crusade, traveling to Cologne, Germany, to join a Crusade to the Holy Land to spread Christianity. Hiding among them is Katerina, a girl forced to flee after hearing of a plot to kill the future emperor, Frederick—who's also her cousin. With three dangerous knights hunting Katerina, Susan believes it's her mission to help her find her grandmother and warn Frederick before the coronation. They disguise Katerina as a boy to fool their foes, but it's not enough. If Susan can just learn to control her growing crystal powers, she could save not only her new friends but also all of history.

    A Rare Gift: Crystal Journals

Shortlisted 2017-18 "Chocolate Lily Award" Young Susan Sinclair is a typical girl whose most exotic pastime, in the normal course of things, is her weekly martial arts class. But when a complete stranger gives her a rare crystal while she's at a flea market with her parents, everything changes. When Susan sleeps, she wakes up on a nineteenth-century migrant ship headed for New York City. There, she meets a young boy named Jeremy who was orphaned at the beginning of the vessel's journey. When Susan attempts to return the crystal, she learns it has chosen her to go to places in the past where something is wrong and must be set right, and she can't give the stone away until it determines the time is right. Susan, who does not even like Jeremy, is outraged. However, as her travels through time continue, she softens toward the unfortunate boy and decides to give this new adventure a chance. But on one return visit to the ship, a bully steals the crystal—and Susan finds herself stuck in the past. She will have to summon all the bravery and resourcefulness she can to escape from a danger beyond her wildest dreams. "I am overwhelmed!" - Irene N. Watts irenenwatts.com I am overwhelmed! Just finished reading and want to know more! You have done a tremendous job, the book has so many levels, trust and friendship and the importance of kindness all woven together with historical truth, you almost had me believing in the power of the crystal and normally I am not captivated by fantasy. But you certainly captivated me. Lovely characterization, and the suspense is maintained until the end, " It's going to make a great series. "
