    I read these when i was 8 and many many times afterwards. These books did like 40% of the job of raising me. There is a lot of wisdom in this coming of age story, and you don't endure a lot of get it.

    I wonder why did I like this as a kid? As an adult, there's so many things about this book that set off red flags for me. Like how, when people find out she's a girl they're suddenly like "oh no, you're a girl and you're single"
