About this series
"The Answer: A Scientific Fantasy on Themes by Zarathustra, Spinoza, and Planck" is a scientific fantasy explaining the nature of everything and positing answers to all of life's big questions in three thousand words or less.
I don't claim any of it is correct, but it's the best I got.
Btw, it has nothing to do with religion.

- Dorothy And The Quantum Mechanic
“Dorothy and The Quantum Mechanic” is a 3000 word science fiction short story. It is actually two separate stories, read concurrently. One story proposes pop-scientific theories and the second relates how these theories would affect real life. "The Quantum Mechanic" contains an objective, quantifiable definition of “time"; most assuredly an incorrect definition, but still .... The story was written for the occasion of my mother-in-law's ninetieth birthday. She had recently lost her beloved companion dog, Fritzi. The first story is about my mother-in-law dying and was written to cheer her up. “I understood some of it” and “Children love repetition” were her two comments. Faint praise indeed, but still ... “The Quantum Mechanic” is the result of my lifetime of seeking to make sense of the universe. “Dorothy” is my suggestion of where this sense leads. Bad science and ridiculous, these stories are as close as I can come to understanding what it's all about. And, for all I know, the stories may be true.
- Country Light
"Country Light" recounts the fictional last night of a young 90+ year old woman whereby she finds that which she did not know she was seeking. The character study is loosely based on my still-living mother’s life. It is neither biographical or a sketch of her character, personality or world view; nor does she take pills. It is simply my attempt to find the truth of why and how she is who she is and to suggest that her life will continue to be exhilarating. It need not find the heart of any reader except, perhaps, on a quiet night, hers.
