IPMA Shorts (Institute for the Preservation of Magical Artifacts) Series
()
About this series
As the IPMA agents concentrate their efforts in Maple Springs following the events in Troll Brother 1 & 2 and other stories, an unlikely group of allies discovers something hidden in the peaks of the Rocky Mountains. The question is who put it there and to what purpose? Will the short term truce between species of faerie and humans be enough to stop something catastrophic in the future?
It is not necessary to read the IPMA Troll Brother Extras to prepare for the re-release of Troll Brother 2 and the releases of Troll Brothers 3 and 4 in 2020, but they'll certainly add to the back story.
Titles in the series (11)
- The Old Silk Hat, A Frosty The Snowman Prequel
1
The Old Silk Hat placed upon Frosty's head is immortalized in story and song. But this short story details the history behind the silk hat and how it came to be infused with life-producing magic. Follow the progression and the changing of owners of the silk hat as it factors into the lives of several men during their lives and relationships before granting Frosty life. The story can be considered general audience and is a heart-felt tribute to the children of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy on December 14th, 2012. It was written in direct response to the tragedy and home coming of Emilie Parker to Ogden, UT for her funeral, as author P. Edward Auman contemplated how best to honor the children and bring comfort to their family and friends as well as his own. Several books were nearing prepartion for publication in 2013 as the author had not previously published any of his works he has written in the last twenty-five years. But none of them captured the essence of why our children's lives touch each of us so strongly. Ideally, the story may be read with your children in about thirty to forty minutes, and may best be used during the Christmas Holidays. However, it is written in such a manner that it may appeal to all denominations and faiths as well. It is the one story that brought the author to tears even during the course of writing it.
- The Goblin Queen's Cache: An IPMA Adventure for Halloween 2014
4
The story of hunting brothers, Jon and Don, as they explorer the domain of the faerie folk in the Western Rocky mountains. What vile plans does the queen of the goblins have for the humans and their weapons? This story is a short side plot that adds to the overall mythology of the Mountain Trolls and Goblins of the IPMA fantasy series, Troll Brother. It hints at events to take place in Troll Brother 2, 3 and 4.
- Seeing Devils: An IPMA Adventure for Halloween 2013
2
Jackson Davison has long wanted to prove the existence of Imps among the other Faerie Folk but hasn't had the right opportunity. Until now, Halloween 2013. This is the second of shorts stories about the IPMA and their adventures. Squirm as Agent Davison tries to learn the truth behind the nature of Imps and other "unseen" faeries and creatures. Written for children and adolescents, but definitely not for the weak of heart. Be prepared to stay awake all night.
- Revenge of the Sylph, The Yeti Uprising Part 2: An IPMA Adventure for Christmas 2014
5
Delve still deeper into the lore of the Faerie Folk and the world of the IPMA (Institute for the Preservation of Magic Artifacts) in this short bonus story by P. Edward Auman. While this story adds to the details of "The Yeti Uprising" (a popular free novella from Eddie began under the NaNoWriMo contest for 2013) it provides a few other Easter eggs towards understanding a few of the faerie folk races, including Water Sprites, Alvens and the part-faerie-mostly-human, Santa Claus himself. Looking to get just a taste of what the IPMA and Auman Faerie Folk worlds are all about? This is a quick short story, fun to read with the family for a little mischievous enjoyment. Afterwards, try the first part of the story, "The Yeti Uprising," and follow up with a heart-warming read of "The Old Silk Hat: A Frosty The Snowman Prequel" for your holiday celebrations. Then join the IPMA family for the "Troll Brother" series of books and their associated short stories and novels, featuring the Goblin Queen.
- The Yeti Uprising: An IPMA Adventure for Christmas 2013
This story was originally begun under the National Novel Writing Month Organization (NaNoWriMo.org) for 2013. Now enjoy the completed story. Join the IPMA agents on another Institute for the Preservation of Magical Artifacts adventure, this time at the North Pole during Christmas 2013 to help quash a hostile takeover. The Yeti clan of North America have decided to take Santa's workshop for their own and will use magic, their ferocity, and their sheer numbers to make it happen. Who among the IPMA agents can stop them? Something fishy was up, Joshua knew it. What were the little fuzzy white hair balls that could seemingly use magic to grow to fifteen feet tall in the blink of an eye doing? Were they migrating north for the Holidays? And who were these men in black suits at his doorstep when after he tried to report what he'd seen on the internet. Will he be the key to preventing a hostile take over of Santa's workshop by the Yeti? Will the agents of the IPMA trust him to unlock the secrets of defending the North Pole if he is? As a follow up to "The Old Silk Hat", "Seeing Devils" and "Troll Brother" see what happens in a magic vs. technology battle to save Christmas Morning.
- Leprechaun Gold: An IPMA Adventure for St. Patrick's Day 2015
Join new characters on another IPMA (Institute for the Preservation of Magical Artifacts) story about real Leprechauns in the foothills of the Northern California Sierra Nevada mountains. Discover gold and secrets of one of the least known faerie folk as James Peterson, an IPMA intern studying at the state college, and Professor Byrne as they attempt to recover solid evidence of the legendary creature. This story is in the vain of other short stories and novellas in the IPMA collection and add to the overall mythology of the Troll Brother series and others by author P. Edward "Eddie" Auman.
- Remuneration, An IPMA Troll Brother Extra #1
If you enjoyed the tales of the IPMA (Institute for the Preservation of Magical Artifacts) and Troll Brother, you'll love these short stories that tell of the interaction of faeries and humans and add to the overall world that is P. Edward Auman's Troll Brother. In this first short story from the collection, a neighbor to the characters in Troll Brother 1 and 2 has located seven "Grep" stones. And the IPMA wants them. Will they strike a deal? Will James Cochran get his just reward for his greed, or does he even realize what he's found? Find out in "Remuneration".
- Corrupt, An IPMA Troll Brother Extra #3, Halloween 2015
The third in a collection of short stories centered around the fictional town of Maple Springs in the Rocky Mountains and the events detailed in the novel series, Troll Brother, featuring the agents of IPMA and other characters. This story gives even more backstory to the fan favorite, the Goblin Queen. As the Goblin Queen continues to build her army and her arsenal, she is missing one key element in her struggles: a mate, someone she can call her closest friend. Her mentor, the dragon Marduk disguised as the righteous matron dragon Aragonamat, has been hardly a companion or confidant. And so the queen turns to her only like-minded soul. She seeks out IPMA Agent Jackson Davidson to recruit him as partner and an aide in her struggle to bring the dominion of faerie folk back to the Earth, even if it may mean fighting against his own human-kind. If you have read "Troll Brother" and "Troll Brother 2: Little Brother Troll", or if you have been enthralled with the Goblin Queen in "Seeing Devils" and "The Goblin Queen's Cache" then it's time you treat yourself to this little Easter Egg of a story for Halloween 2015! Caution: while still suitable for a scare for younger readers, it is darker than the previous short stories and novels which include the Goblin Queen with somewhat more adult themes.
- Vernon's Ghost, An IPMA Troll Brother Extra #2
The second in a collection of short stories centered around the fictional town of Maple Springs in the Rocky Mountains and the events detailed in the novel series, Troll Brother. This story brings back agent Peter Samuel and Hattie from "The Yeti Uprising" to make a compassionate visit to one of IPMA Historian, Eddie Auman's old friends. Investigate with the IPMA (Institute for the Preservation of Magical Artifacts) whether or not faeries have anything to do with the after life. Not scary, but suitable for children for the Halloween Season, 2015.
- Monster Heart, An IPMA Troll Brother Extra #4
Sam Eliason, a hunter and backwoodsman living on the outskirts of Maple Springs, has just discovered the perks of ingesting magic. But the cost is far too high to obtain it. While this story follows "Seeing Devils", "The Goblin Queen's Cache", and "Corrupt" as well as the IMPA and Troll Brother storyline, the creep factor has been escalated. Robbie and Ricky came to the defense of their new troll friends in the Troll Brother series. Find out what happens when less-than-savory humans discover the existence of faerie folk living nearby. **This is recommended for a PG-13 audience and does contain some mild fairy-related gore.
- Krymsin, An IPMA Troll Brother Extra #5
